“I heard about the Repair Cafe back in January 2022, when they put out a request for volunteers. I am not an expert in anything in particular but am happy to help and experienced in fixing things so I put my name forward.
There are over 2,500 Repair Cafes worldwide and they are free meeting places all about repairing things. Anyone can attend a cafe with something to be repaired and hopefully there will be someone there with the knowledge or skills to help. It is a great scheme to try and save items being thrown away unnecessarily.
I’ve fixed a lawnmower with a faulty mechanism, looked at a gramaphone, lots of kettles and coffee makers, radios and game consoles. Not always successful in fixing the item but always worth a look as it may be that I can identify where the fault is and which part need replacing.
It is a nice social setting and everyone is friendly and welcoming. I would thoroughly recommend volunteering or bringing you items along to be repaired. (hopefully).”
