Fox & Hounds update

The Fox and Hounds will see its last day of trading under Landlords Scott and Liz on Sunday  3rd April.

On Saturday 2nd April we are having a quiz night which is raising funds for First Responders and then on Sunday 3rd April, in the afternoon, we will have LIVE music playing whilst we attempt to empty any barrels of beer we have left !! We will probably stay open until the pub is drunk DRY !! Please come along and help!

Sunday 3rd April is going to be a day of mixed emotions. The 14 years of working at the Fox and Hounds has been incredible, we have made so many friends and so many memories. The team who have worked at the Fox & Hounds in those years have been amazing and its hard to say goodbye to so many wonderful things. It is however a positive step for us as a family as after 14 years of running a busy pub, which is 24/7, we are simply tired.

As things stand at the moment Palmers Brewery (who own the building of the pub) have not found the right people to take over from us, hopefully that will change soon. This means there will be a period of closure for the Fox and Hounds and this does make us feel sad. The brewery will be taking the opportunity to do some essential maintenance whilst its shut so no doubt we will be seeing activity there during April.

The Fox and Hounds is a busy, happy, lively pub which sits at the centre of our busy, happy, lively village. The Fox and Hounds is also a profitable and viable business and is a great opportunity for the right people. The pub could never be put forward for ‘change of use’ as our accounts will always support the fact that the pub is viable. We therefore hope that the closure will be a temporary blip and that it will be back in business soon. I for one can’t wait to be sat on the ‘right’ side of the bar ordering a glass of prosecco!!

Originally a medieval longhouse, the Fox and Hounds is a rustic 17th Century Inn, situated in the heart of Cattistock. The ancient beams, large inglenook fireplace and little window seats add to the charm and character.

We aim to serve our local community in the best way possible. Our staff, coupled with the traditional atmosphere give a warm welcome to visitors and tourists alike all year round.

We serve delicious home cooked meals, real local ales, a selection of ciders, and a choice of wines.

We welcome all groups, including coach parties, walkers, cyclists, skittles teas, bell ringers, folk music to name but a few.

We have 3 lovely letting rooms making us an ideal choice for a last minute weekend break, or a great base for a more extended stay allowing you to explore Dorset.

We are an excellent choice for families due to being situated directly opposite an amazing play park, allowing parents to relax on the front terrace whilst children play.

We are a dog friendly pub. There is free wifi, and a car park to the rear.

We look forward to welcoming you to our lovely village and our special pub.

Food is served: 12 noon – 2pm Tuesday – Sunday

7pm – 9pm Monday – Sunday

Bar open until 11pm.
