We hold an Open Gardens weekend every other year with proceeds going to local charities. The last 2 events raised over £7,000 which was shared equally between the Church Fabric Fund and the Cattistock Community Fund.
This year the Open Gardens weekend is on the 8th & 9th June. As well as lots of beautiful gardens, plant stall and teas; we will also have the Cattistock Hunt kennels opening on the Saturday and Manor Farm opening on the Sunday (both venues are sited within the village).
Our Open Gardens weekend attracts a lot of people from outside our community to appreciate Cattistock, Sandhills and Chalmington.
We have a hound parade through Cattistock to open the event, gathering outside the Fox & Hounds for ‘mingling’ opportunities on the Saturday lunchtime. We then have the wonderful gardens opened on the Saturday and Sunday afternoons ; the Church has its fantastic Flower Festival, including beautiful flower displays, organ recitals and bell ringing; and not to mention fabulous teas and cakes at strategic places throughout the Open Gardens route. Running alongside all of this we also have the Hunt kennels open and running events on Saturday; and Manor Farm opening as part of the national “Open Farm Sunday”.
The full programme will be publicised shortly.
To set the gardening theme for the year we are holding a “Gardeners Question Time” on 6th April in the Savill Hall. Watch out on the Telegraph Pole for full details.
