On 27th July we held a Classical Concert in the church called Wessex Songs: 100 years of Thomas Hardy. We were extremely fortunate in being included in the South West tour of this new piece of work featuring Lotte Betts-Dean (the singer), and James Girling (the guitarist). We were invited on a journey with Thomas Hardy through songs of the 20th century inspired by his words and the local Dorset landscape. Both the musicians are young and near the start of their careers and I think all that attended would agree that they both have a truly remarkable talent. Some of the content was beautiful and heart rending, some was much more challenging. If you missed the concert but would like to hear the music featured, the tour supported the release of an album, with the same name, recorded with Delphian Records. Our next concert will be a return of the Cassandra string quartet on Saturday 26th October, more details to follow.
